Usually my posts show finished items as I churn through my lead pile of doom, but I thought I’d post a WIP of some stuff I’m working on.

Imperial Guard

As I get the last of my Epic Imperial Guard forces prepped for painting, I thought I’d show the last few units that came off my 3D printer (Anet A8). It’s 3 years old now and is not the best quality but it continues to run.

I printed some Hellhounds (flamethrowers) and Hydras, which will have replacement metal guns from Vanguard miniatures, as the 3D printed ones look terrible and will be very weak.

Also I found my missing Thunderbolt fighter, and I’ll make a tail wing out of plasticard for it.

And I went a bit crazy in the aerial warfare department with 5 Valkyries and some Marauders. The tail fins on the Valkyries are very weak and a lot snapped during the cleanup, so I reprinted some at a different angle, which should be sturdier. I had a similar issue with the tails of the Marauder so we’ll see how they go surviving the rigours of gaming!

The white stuff on them is Tamiya putty which I’ve used to cover the lines where the 2 parts were printed. So they require quite a bit of sanding to remove the putty and the worst of the printing lines. Although they cost very little to print, the cleanup and prep is quite time consuming, so I produce a lot less 3D models than before.
